It's a shame

I think it is a shame that you has to get logged in to write messages. On the Delphi-board there is'nt as much answers as before. I dont there was to much spam so what is the reason of making this logon-system?

  • I am aware that adding a login requirement might reduce the number of postings, but if you try the login feature I am sure you will notice all the benefits that the login system have created, for example:

    * Email notifications
    * Display new messages since your last login
    * Signatures
    * Bookmarking of messages
    * Personal preferences/Settings

    I belive all these features is a huge benefits to our users.

    If you feel that the login is bothering you, you can use the autologin using cookies to get logged in automatically.

    Also, the login will enable us to create more exiting features than before.

    So, the login a small price for more and better features!

  • Does a fast'n'easy "guest" login could fix the problem ?

  • Well, sure, but then I think we would get back to see more
    spam, get rich quick messages and so.

    If entered as guest and posted messages, you would then
    not get access to the nice features like email notification
    when someone replies to your message for example. That's
    a very nice features if you realy want to post a question here.

    I do like your feedback and if its found that most people
    wants it, then I will consider it. I am not that difficult to deal with.

  • How about allowing guests to post replies to other messages by signing in as guests, but not be able to post their own messages without getting their own account, and of course, they would not have access to any of the nice features that you mentioned earlier.

    Hi!
    I have seen messageboards without login, where less mature visitors has "stolen" someone elses identity, and used it to sabotage their victims reputation until everyone else either ignore them or attack them at sight.

    Login is, unfortunately, a must!

  • Hi

    This is a issue that can be discussed forever, but in the past I didn't use any login and we had numerous occations where the identity was stolen and SPAM was posted in their name. So login is a must to be able to give each user a identity and in the end the login will give the users more personalized features like email notification and other personal features....
    After we introduced the login we have had much less junk-posts on this board.

    I'd say that guest login would be able to start and reply to their own thread and nothing else. With the option of letting ANYONE delete the thread. If a junk thread gets started by a guest, we (the users) could remove it as soon as it shows up. If the user is worried about the thread being removed as junk, they can signup. This would allow a one-time user to ask a question without bothering with registration/login, while giving encouragement to signup and login.

    (A bug? Right above where I'm typing, it says:

    Posting rules....
    Only post Jobs Available related messages, All other messages might deleted.
    Do not post messages about you wanting a ob. Use the "Jobs wanted" board instead.)
