I need to get an idea on how exactly an mp3 works eg its algorithm, or anything at all. Im researching it for a project but all I can find is commercial orientated information, I need to find out how exactly it is compressed, if you know or know a web site that would tell me, please let me know...

    Would you believe that im looking for the same info. So far all i could find is source code for decoding Mpeg files layers I,II,III. If anyone could send me some more info i would be greatful

    Well I don't post here, my first post here so if this is not what you want bear with me.

    I didn't find anything on mp3 on wotsit but I guess you could look into mpg-123 and xmms(these are mp3 players) software codes in linux(c code I guess) and try understanding it.
