hi guys,
i don't if this is possible, but it's really bugging me allot. i have this passion on creating an mp3 player for gameboy, i know that gameboy have a z80 like CPU. but is there a way to decode mp3 from 486 to z80?
it's really cool if you can both play games and listen to mp3's with your gameboy.
think about it!

now try decoding and playing an MP3 in the background... what will happen to your game?
it'll skip and jump around all to hell;
what I'm getting at is that first off, the gameboy's processor is way too slow to decode and play MP3s in realtime, and second... well second, I think we've already covered in saying the processor just couldn't take it...
have a nice day
But, that won't be out till, oh shit, brain cramp!! Well a while anyway, but that yould be your best shot.
: Game boy/ color, no, definate ly not, but what about game boy advanced, that will have a 32 bit system, and will be able to decode mp3's.

: while the concept is quite interesting, picture this... you're playing a fairly taxing game... say... quake III... on your ordianary pII 500 with a decent 3d card, righto, assuming you have nothing running but quake III, it should run alright, correct?

Actually, you're wrong. There is a way to do this. If you look at the Rocket Arena 3 mod for Quake 3, it has this implemented flawlessly. You point to your music directory and it plays song files from that folder, so mid game it switches tracks without a hitch.
