Ping works but write,talk doesnt
I hav a two PCs' which are connected by LAN. The ping command is working fine but the write and talk and even ftp is not working!!! I need to know why, it is stalling my project work. plz help.

Hi,
is the LAN setup in a cisco environment? I have made the same experience using the auto-negotiation feature with cisco switches. Try to bind both interfaces (switch and PC) to 100-Full (if it is the speed you want).
Hint: Look through the messages to find out the speed which the interface uses. Nevertheless, if you have a gigabit environment you must use auto-neg on both sides!
After all i don't think that you forgot to check out if ftp is working...
