Assembly Language Master Class Book

My curiosity has been struck(thanks to Bitdog) and I'm trying to obtain that book now; however, most copies don't contain the cd and I was wondering if that was a important part to the book? I noticed you can go to www.apress.com and download the code for the book and was wondering if that's all the cdrom contains? Some people want $400 US for that book with the cd!! Yikes.

Good lookin out fer us on the "Master Class" code link, I'm downloadin tonight.
$400 Yikes is right. I heard it was worth every penny though,
but it must be cheaper somewhere?
I think it went out of print? is the reason.
It's suspose to be quite old, and covers the intricate hidden inner workings of a computer, that's still used today?
(Please correct me if I'm wrong.)
Ok, what if? the code.zip is complete & well commented?
Maybe one doesn't need the book, for now. At least untill a reasonable source is found?

PS, figgured I'ld edit this and add, DID YOU KNOW THAT:
you could add an old mono video card & monitor on your computer,
and since they work on different modes, you can have the text from
your debugger on video mode 7 showing up on the mono screen,
while your VGA dumps the codes output in graphic modes ?

I found out that Wiley publishing bought out %10 of there titles and the others were taken over by APRESS publishing when Wrox Press had there parent company filed for bankruptcy. To bad the book is not in circulation anymore, because I have heard that if you want to go from good to guru status then this is the book to get. I'm definitely going to get it, and when I reach that apex where I can comprehend those advanced subjects then I'll have it to study. No problem on the look out, glad to help.

I tried some of the examples in the "Assembly Language Master Class" 346.ZIP
and couldn't get them to assemble with Masm 5.1
Did anybody get them to assemble and how did they do it?

The .ASM formatting FAILED ASM101 & was basicly 3rd grade level,
intro wasn't assemblable, line start (//// failed), (program 1.1 failed)
comments were tabbed off the screen,
short comments were made multi lined and tabbed off the screen,
the labels were tabbed in to equil to that of the instructions,
and I got three critical errors on the first PROG1_1.ASM
after I fixed the, //// & program line starts.

I'm glad I didn't pay $400 for the book & CD, to find this out.

I'm going to try again though. MASM 6.? maybe?
Then examine the code for code gems & programming style gems.

PS, I would like to hear some comments,
er results of your examination of 346.ZIP
