Mutually exclusive ?

I know mutex is used to allow only one instance to work with a memory area, but how is it actually done ? Thanx for help in advance :)

  • Hello

Before you access the 'protected' memory you must look to the mutex. If the mutex is 'free' you can access the memory, if it isn't free you must wait. There is a special function to do this in Windows (don't ask me for the name, look it up in the SDK) which will block the process/thread until the mutex is free.

    Hope this helps.
