Remote form submission

I'd like to set up a page that will submit data to another site's form. Does anyone know how I can do this?

  • Hi!

Yes, I think this is easy enough. Create the form, then in the tag, use the same method and action as on the site you want to post to. For example:-

Original Site You Want To Submit To's Submission Page:-
    ....

    ....

Now you need to work out what the full address to anything.cgi would be, e.g.
    http://www.sitetosubmitto.com/somewhere/anything.cgi

Then put that in your own form:-
    ....

    ....

If you got any questions, feel free to ask!

    Hope this helps you!

  • Thanks, I'll try that as soon as I can.

  • Ok, and what if I want the data to be hard coded? So, I click a link or something, and the data is sent to the remote form. Can I do this?

  • Hi!

: Ok, and what if I want the data to be hard coded?
I would guess that your best bet it to put the data into hidden fields. For example:-

That should do what you want, if you are after what I think you are. You need a hidden field for each bit of data you wish to hardcode.

: So, I click a link or something, and the data is sent to the remote form.
    : Can I do this?
Hmmm. I think you may be able to submit a form using a link, but a button (just like your normal submit button) will save you writing JavaScript and make it work better for those out there who have JavaScript turned off. You alternative is to have an image as the submit button, and make that look like a normal text link. But the hand thing won't show up under it.....

Hope to have been of some help!
