# parableequasion short version

is there a way to get the quadratic equasion for a parable if you have tthree points (x,y) of which one it the top point

say the points are
100,-450
150,90
200,450

how does the quadratic equasion look and how do I derive it from the pointcoordinates

Thank you

• What you want is an equation for a parabola
Generally I think its given by y^2 = 4ax where a is a constant.
For y-y1 and x-x1 it will (y-y1)^2 = 4a(x-x1) something like that. Well you will have to look into some math book for that - 3years since I use parabola eqns.
