Hiding Table data

Either I am an idiot or you can't hide the contents
within a tag using the tag. Do you know
of a relatively easy method to do so?

here is what I am trying to accomplish(simply stated):

visibility: hidden;
}
#mytag2 {position: absolute;
visibility: visible;
}
