How to link devices to hardware when you have identical devices

I have been searching everywhere to find out an answer for this question. I have a setup with multiple USB device that are identical. Each devices has 2 channels. We want to be able to reach 16 channels and we need 8 devices for that.

However, when you connected identical devices they are all call by the same name and have the same product id, vendor id etc ...

We can use the GUID to have a unique identifier on each devices but there is no link between this GUID and the hardware itself. There is no way of knowing if the GUID is and will be always attach to one device only.

Is there a way to know for sure with directsound which device is what when you have identical devices?
