Jpeg to .PRN conversion

Hi everyone,

I'm currently working on a uni project which is to print a dot matrix image on a glass surface using a CNC engraving machine (Roland MDX-40).
The idea was to generate a simple .PRN file from the image and convert it to CNC print format (.mdx) using PERL programming and print it via the CNC engraving machine.

Initially, i've created a simple jpeg image using Windows Paint application and generate a .PRN file using the "Print to file" function via a dot matrix printer driver. The generated .PRN file contents gibberish language which is not readable by human. Is there any other readable .PRN format which i can print in order to understand its content and convert it to CNC print format (.mdx)? Any Suggestions?
