Hello,
Firstly let me introduce myself,
My name is Conor, I'm 15 years old, I have always been interested in Video game design and made some games in RPG Maker, but I dont want to do that anymore, I want to PROGRAM my own games

If anyone could teach me some basic coding and a few things to help me design a simple RPG type game like EarthBound or one of those SNES type games I would be really grateful,
I have downloaded Visual C++ as one of my friends recommended it to me,
now I would just like some help with the basic coding
Also any info for doing these things:
1:Moving character
2:Using a sprite fr my character
3:How to make a map appear in my game
4:Switches (as in unlocking new things when you complete a certain goal)
5:Anything else anyone might think would be useful to me
Thanks to anyone who can help me in anyway, even if it is only something small

Do you already have sufficient experience in C++? If not, put all of your game developing ideas away for a few months and learn the language itself.
I can answer your questions, but it would be pointless if you dont have a good grasp of your language, programming, nor graphics API (OpenGL, DirectX, mabey even Win32).
If you do already have a good grasp of C++, please let us know the API you are using and I will be glad to assist you with any questions you may have ;-) May I suggest picking up Beginning OpenGL game programming book?

I Would Suggest C# and CPP
If you won't a easy way to learn programming you could go
with XNA http://creators.xna.com/
Microsoft has a lot of videos on game programming. great videos
I would also suggest useing your search engine for things like
lecture video
