How do I find the IP address of a web site?

  • If You are running WINDOWS 95/98/NT 4.0 you can start command prompt and use the following command:

    TRACERT www.programmersheaven.com and you will get: 63.229.91.35

    You can also use the command PING but the server has to be online then.

    Click the start button, find the MSDOS shortcut and click on it.

    now a window should pop up with this displayed in it:

    next type (PING) then press the space bar then type the web address you want the ip too ex:(www.microsoft.com)

    then press the enter key or the return key (whatever you call it) and it should display the ip and other information in the window.

    then prees enter.
