Destructive read-in

I just started learning C programming and I'm not so sure about destructive read-in. If any of you guys would be so kind to provide some examples so that I can understand more about this thing. I mean, so that I can tell if a statement contains variables involved in destructive read-in?

Thanks.

I assume by destructive read-in you mean that once read, it cannot be read again?
All the I/O get functions work that way (the data you read gets discarded from the stream).

The way I see it... Well, it's all pretty blurry
