PROJECT # 1
Universal Wheels Limited (UWL) is a newly established used car dealer, with branches in Kingston, Port Antonio and Montego Bay. The Company is in need of a computer programme to calculate the salaries for its monthly paid full time employees. The programme should receive an employees gross monthly salary (GMS) as input, and then return the Net Pay after deducting various taxes and charges. The deductions a summarised in the table below:
DEDUCTIONS
CALCULATIONS
National Insurance (NIS)
$520 or $1040
National Housing Trust (NHT)
2% of Monthly Gross
Tax Free Amount (TFA)
$10,000
Pension Contributions (PEN)
5% of Monthly Gross
Education Tax (EDTX)
2% of (GMS - NIS - PEN)
Income Tax (INTX)
25% of (GMS PEN NIS -TFA)
Surely, an employees Net Pay, is the removal of these deductions from the gross monthly salary, i.e. NET PAY = GMS (INTAX + EDTX + PEN + NIS + NHT). The user must be prompted to enter the GMS and the employees identification number (ID#) only; the programme should return the results and then prompt the user for a new entry of another GMS and Employee ID#. four digit ID number, the course work grade and the EOMEX grade. You may assume that ID numbers range between 3000 and 9000. The top executives of the company, which are identified by ID numbers greater than 8000, are given a $15,000.00 bonus, while middle management personnel (ID# 7000 8000) gets $9,000.00; all other staff members (ID# 3000 6999) receive a bonus of 1
$3000.00. Further employees who receive a GMS of over $60,000.00 will be required to pay $1040 for NIS and $520 otherwise. The program must terminate gracefully when 0 (zero) is entered as the Id number. You may assume that only persons earning more than the TFA will be exposed to the various deductions.
ILLUSTRATION
So for example, let's say we enter the ID# 7654 and a GMS of $90,000.00, then the calculations would be as follows:
GMS = $90, 000
NIS = $1040
NHT = 2% of GMS = $1800
PEN = 5% of GMS = $4500
EDTX = 2% of (GMS PEN NIS) = $1689.20
INTX = 25% of (GMS PEN NIS TFA) = $18615.00
BONUS = $9000
So then the Net Pay = GMS (1040+1800+4500+1689.20+18615) + 9000
= 90000 27644.20 + 9000
= $71,355.80
The task is left to you to format the output in a meaningful and reader friendly way.
Both a hard copy and a soft copy must be submitted. The program is marked out of 70 and the allocation of the marks are shown below:
Compile 10 marks
Readability 5 marks
Comments 5 marks
Runs Perfectly 25 marks
Use of Language 10 marks
Output Formatting 10 marks
Algorithm & Documentation 5 marks
