This is not the first time I have had this problem but it is the first time I have no other option. A computer I have been working on is rather out-dated, (it struggles wiht win 98) I must have a floppy drive in this computer, but it doesn't work. First when the computer boots the floppy light that flashes at me like the glaring eye of a monster waiting to feast on my flesh. Anyway the light stays on and doesn't turn on. then the computer spits this at me
floppy disk fail (40) press DEL to enter setup
I've tryed just about everything in setup and I can't get the drive to work or the glaring light to turn off, weather the problem is hardware or setup or software, I just need to get it to work.

Take out the cable from the floppy device and put it in the other way around. If you can't, take out the floppy cable from the motherboard and put it back the other way around. Basically, the light stays on when the cable is not connected the right way.
Hope this helped.
so that the light keep on blowing.
connect it properly.

That was pretty much the other response as it turns out the cable was in fine but the motherboard was refusing to accept it, pretty much the whole computer was shot and I recently allowed it to move on to greener pastures. (aka my Tree-lawn)
Thanks for all the help!
