bootsector

:Hi, i'm writing a program that makes boot disks

:for different operating systems,

:and i'm trying to use bootsec.exe to copy a

:dos 6.22 bootsector onto a floppy then sys it

:with 6.22 boot files. But i'm running into a problem,

:sys refuses to copy 6.22 files. Is there anyway

:while within 98, to make a boot disk for dos 6.22?

:i thought you just had to copy a dos bootsector

:onto the floppy, then sys would work, but it doesn't.

:Anyone out there ever use the bootsec.exe prog.?

:Is there a better way?

  • Why don't you copy the dos 6.22 files by hand

    onto the bootdisk ?

The files that are needed are : msdos.sys, io.sys

    and command.com

just type "copy msdos.sys a:" and make sure that

you take the correct version of msdos.sys

:Thanks Ann, i figured it out

:you sent me down the right track.

    :Here's how you do it.

    :format disk with 98's format

:xcopy with the /v switch msdos boot files into a directory

    :io,msdos,command,drvspace in that order

    :bootsec.exe /w /f:dos622sec /d:a:

:then xcopy /v from the directory to the a: drive

    :it really works!

:but you have to have a dos bootsector.

    :Thanks again
