How to put a password in a keyboard ?

Hi

I have a book that says that its possible to put a password
in a keyboard in port - 60H, command - A4,A5,A6.I tried to do
it, i even get a response from keyboard saying that the password
was installed but then nothing happens, i restart my pc and
the keyboard works without entering the password.

I dont know if this works in nowadays keyboards :(

I'm not an expert but this sounds like a monkey bread. (a saying in dutch) Keyboard should have at least some persistent memory then. I remember that 60h was/is used for reading character data. It would be nice if the example at least turned on some of the leds on the board ;)
