uploading a certificate file to the server

hi all ,
I need to upload a certificate file on the server . I used a javabean , but after the upload , the certificate file changed and just wouldnt open . could anyone plz tell me what may be wrong or tell me if I can get a javabean somewhere . Is there any other method to upload the certificate file to a server .
p.s : he bean that I made is easily able to upload images and even videos .
