Remotely connect to a router

I have a VPN BEFSX41 router 4-port. I'm trying to make it so I can connect to the network remotely via my other computer/laptop. VPN doesn't seem to want to work. I DON'T have a router. Any suggestions?

Hmmmm... "I have a VPN BEFSX41 router 4-port" and "I DON'T have a router." don't quite hang together. I'm suspecting what you have is router that connects through some device to the net, and has a built-in 4 port hub. Thus you do have a router in there somewhere.

As for your problem... "VPN doesn't seem to want to work" - any more info on exactly what you mean by it not wanting to work? What have you tried?

Have you attempted to ping the external IP address of the router? How is your router configured as to handling incoming traffic? You'll probably find you need to set up NAT or similar.
