: What is the price of the watcom c++ compiler....
: and is it worth buying it...(is i a very good compiler)
Its about $220, somewhat steep. But it does support various OSs, including 32bit DOS and Windows. It it very good for creating DOS apps, and good for Windows programs using the Win32 SDK. MFC is supported, but the MFC interface is pretty weak (not that we care about MFC).
If you ONLY want DOS support, its probably best to use DJGPP for awhile, since its free. I like Watcom because it is cross-platform, and I use it for both DOS and Win development. And using DirectX is trivial (contrary to some rumors).
My understanding is that it isn't in development anymore, but that doesn't really matter for DOS since nothing new is going to happen there anyway. It is probably the best DOS compiler out.
The ad even says it supports MMX (though I don't recall ever seeing an option for that. hmmmmm)
