Callback class?

Hi. I need a good way to PERIODICALLY search for

multiple files in a directory, passing them to another

program for processing. Using a timer is one way to

handle the "periodic" part, but there must be a better

way.... I have "heard" of something called a CALLBACK class..

any ideas?
