How do I use PostMessage?? Thank You

I would much appreciate it if someone could give me a sample of using PostMessage or SendMessage.

I would like to send a message to a CEdit control on a dialog from a Callback function using one of these.

I tried using SetWindowText which causes the App to lock up.
