Multi-Column Listbox Problem

ok, i have looked in a few different places for a way to get the listbox to do multi-columns to work. i know that you can do a listbox.items.add(), but how do you add it to a different column?? i know that you have to enable multicolumns, but how do you get it to go into the 2nd column, first row?? any information would be greatly appreciated. thanks
