  • Hi,

They are notices, not errors. Levels go notices, warnings, errors... So notices are a way below actual errors, so you're probably OK. As for what causes them, don't know...

So they are. I shouldn't reply to posts at that time of night. Oh, I am again...appologies in advance for another probably low quality answer! (only kidding...I hope ;-)).

I guess my next question would be, does your server work at all? If not, I guess it really *needs* fixing. Having a look around the web, it looks like it's a common issue. Appears to be a conflict with McAfee AV 7 - see here:-

    Hope this helps,

that's prefectly the same situation as mine, tho i'm using windows xp pro. i'm using mcaffee 7 as well simply becoz norton av is heavy. i ghost back my hard drive and i seems working even tho after i have installed mcaffee, but just after install bulletftp server (cant remember what version but definitely the latest one), apache goes on "wierd" again. but it's ok now because i use the older version; 1.3xx something. i read somewhere on the net that apache2 is yet to stable

Nice that you got it worked out. Apache 2 has had a lot of re-working done particularly for the Windows platform, so it's possible things have changed quite a bit somewhere and thus the problem.

  • Hi,

Well, the latest release of Apache 2, v2.0.44, is upon us, and I spotted this in the release notes:-

*) Resolve the error "An operation was attempted on something
that is not a socket. : winnt_accept: AcceptEx failed.
Attempting to recover." for users of various firewall and
anti-virus software on Windows. PR 8325 [William Rowe]

So there you go. They've fixed it. :-)
