problem with "css"

I am curently developing a site that uses, for all it's pages, the same css file (i am working with dreamweaver 4).

the problem is that no scrolling bars appear in any page that uses that css.

if i remove the css link the scrollings bar appear if necesary.

What should i do?. I need to keep the css link in every htm file becouse this site will increase very quik.

    Have you checked what it is in your CSS file that causes the behaviour? Try removing bits of it and see if the scroll bars return. Does it just happen in one browser or many - could be IE bug or something (I've seen some corkers courtesy a la Microsoft).

    Any help?

  • It'll be some invalid CSS code. Alot of people like to colour the scroll bars in IE, this is only an IE thing, it's not valid CSS under the W3 standards. Not to mention, it looks dreadful. Look for something like this in the CSS file:

    body {
    scrollbar-dark-shadow: #fff;
    }

    Anything with "scrollbar" in, take it out, it's invalid anyways ( I forget the exact values, I've never used them only seen them). There's alot of fancy CSS effects that only work in IE, alot of filters and such. For design sites, art sites or whatever, this is fine. But for a big site that's intended to reach out to a large audience, they're not portable. Scrap them I say.
