This is known as a GPF (General Protection Fault) and usually happens when one program tries to use memory used by another program in your PC. There are many causes for this. My understanding from your posting is that this is happening when you are running Explorer 4.0 under Win 95 and not any other application. I would suggest that in this case, you have Explorer re-installed, or if it is another application that is causing the problem then re-install that one. Otherwise, you may have to look a little deeper at what is loaded into memory and where.

    Hope this explains a little.
