Hi, my new year's resolution is to move on up from my administrative position and into the field of programming.

Does anyone here have any suggestions on where I should take my

first step? Books or classes you can recommend? A place to buy an affordable pc???

What is the first thing I should try and learn?

First I think You should learn the basics of programming and a language you want to start programming.

Check out the examples and download some demos(sources of course) and check out how they are written and so on.
