What is this number for?

Below the message:
"Boards listed in bold contain messages posted since you last logged in."

There is a number "1". What is the "1" for?

I thought it was the number of messages posted since I last logged in, but it seems to always say "1".

Its the page number, if you got many boards on the same
section you will get 1 2.....

I think it shouldn't be such a great effort to hide the page number if there is only one page...?
