Mapping Tables within different databases with a Stored Proc
We are working on a web application project utilizing SQL Server 7 SP3 and ASP. Through the year our client has developed and is currently utilizing multiple databases on the server. These databases have certain tables that are similar and need to be updated simultaneously in real-time.
We could create a single ASP page that would update all databses, but we are looking for a more elegant approach on the DB Server's end. The solution we have envisioned is one where updating one table would set off a trigger that would run a particular stored procedure to update all other tables in various databases.
Is this solution possible within SQL Server? If so, do you have any useful resources to which you could point us? We have had no luck on MSDN nor on MSKB. So, any constructive input you may have will be quite helpful and much appreciated.
