Hello,

OK, I've downloaded a copy of MySQL with the intent of learning about it for web development so I can integrate it with Perl (which I already know well) and build more powerful sites. But where to start?

I'm pretty new to SQL generally - I've seen some of the way the commands work. But what I really want to know is - where do I start with creating a database/tables/stored procedures? Any information on how to work with them in Perl would be nice, but I want to get the server cracked first. I'm running it under windows.

Any quick tips?

Thanks a lot,

Jonathan

If I'm not mistaken, your copy of MySQL should have a Docs directory conaining a 2mb file called manual.html (and a handy smaller html file with the table of contents), there are a lot of examples in there on creating databases and tables. As for stored procedures, I don't know if MySQL already supports them (my version 3.23.3 doesn't yet).

Anywhere, here are some links which contain Perl/MySQL examples (not reviewed, so I don't know how usefull they are ;-))
