3d blobs

How can I make 3d blobs (3-4 balls in 3d, flying

around, and their surfaces bleed to other balls)

Comments

  • Hi Jugoslav,

How did you want to do this, programatically, or using a 3D package such as Lightwave, or 3D Studio?

Do you need the balls to be interactive, or do you just need the user to be able to watch them?

    Sincerely,

    Jason Gorman

Programatically, in real time, phong shaded + env. mapping.

Try to find demo jizz by the black lotus.

    Hi there,

What you call 3d blobs are in fact vector balls (judging from your description). Blobs are a different topic entirely (and I don't know much about that). If you want phong-shaded environment mapping and stuff, you will have to build yourself an impressive 3d-vector engine first (unless you program in Windoze and use DirectX). That would be a bit of an overkill, though, if you are only interested in vector balls (a 3d engine is always nice, of course). The balls are usually just semi-transparant bitmaps, which are positioned in a way that they seem to be 3-dimensional (this often includes rescaling the bitmap to make them appear closer or farther away).

    Hope this helps.

    Greets,

    Mark
