MODEM problems

I'm sure this is all elementary to you but i'm having problems with my internet connection on my laptop. When I connect my bytes recieved and sent is like 2000(not even enough to open yahoo)! I'm thinkin my modems fried cuz when i connect my phone line to my other computer and connect, it works perfectly. Please give me your expertees on the subject, what's wrong with my internet or modem, THX

    : Hi Yodes, you say you have this problem with your Internet connection well I'm thinking since the problem is how data is sent and received in the modem the problem maybe that you have other programs or TSR's that affect the way the buffer in the memory is being used so if I were you check the taskmanager to see if any programs or apps are somewhat using the buffer area so you can't use the Internet. Good luck on hunting the pesky app.
