Long names are chopped!

I'm using Linux 2.2.17. I compiled my kernel and I got this problem: when mounting a cdrom, I can't see filenames longer than 8 chars(I get a ~1 like under D.O.S.). But if I boot my older kernel it works fine.

It's obvious that it has to do with my kernel configuration, but, what is it?
