How to check a Sub-String of a String in JavaScript?

Like in PHP, is there a way to check a sub-string of a string in JavaScript? I couldn't find a function does this directly. May be there is a workaround. Please let me know.

    You can use str.indexOf(searchValue[, fromIndex]) to do this.

    This function will return the position of the sub string. If that sub string is not available, it will return -1. So you can check for -1 as follows.

    var string = "somestring";
    alert(string.indexOf("omes") != -1);
