Trouble creating new class

I am a complete beginner to Java and I'm doing okay so far but I've hit a roadblock. This is a weird problem as well. When I right click on the source package and select new java class the wizard opens as normal. The problem occurs when I name the new class and click finish. The wizard box stays on the screen and I see the new class pop up in the side pane of Netbeans but I also get an error message on the bottom of the wizard box that says "The file already exists".

This is after clicking the button only once and when I go to the code view on the new class, there is nothing but line number 1.

Forgive my description but like I said I'm completely new to this and I can't continue my homework until I solve this problem.
