Light Weight Database Class

I'm devloping an application that needs to manage a very small about of data. Just one or two tables with a couple of thousand rows (max). I don't need indexes, partitioning, views, or other advanced support. I don't really even need a "select" statement, I can scan through the information manually if necessary.

My goal is to keep it self contained and small, meaning I don't want to force a connection to Oracle, MS SQL Server, ... I can manually code an object to save it to a data file, but would rather use an existing class or other program to save the effort. Can you recommend anything?

Thank you
