Game Developer Looking for Programmer (not for profit)
First off, no pay is involved for any parties (beyond maybe me buying you pizza or a nice bottle of wine if you live in the Bay Area,) this is simply a for-fun dealio. So if you're looking for a paying gig I'm sorry, but I just don't have the resources right now (don't you just love the economy).
I'm a pen and paper role playing game developer with no knowledge of coding. The goal of this project is to get a stripped down version of some simple core game-mechanics onto a facebook app.
The game is called Absolute 0 and has been five years in the making. The mechanics are fairly simple with gameplay being very player motivated. Numerous player goals include: control of land, gaining points for upgrades, role playing/character development, exploration. Game play would most likely be text based, although a GUI sort of interface (similar to Mafia Wars,) with an additional forum-type aspect would be ideal.
The game is set shortly after an unnamed apocalypse caused by massive EMP warfare. There is a mixed tech level and a feudalistic culture with many factions vying for power both ideologically and physically. Anybody interested can pm me for more setting info.
Like I said, the game is very player motivated whilst still being fairly structured. This means that there are clear cut mechanics, but it is ultimately up to the player to decide what their character wants. This is mostly accomplished with sort of forum-like areas (bard's dance clubs and whatnot). NPC's would be constant and defined for the most part with very occasional random encounters, the town is likewise constant and defined. Eventually though it would be cool to make more towns and move the game from facebook to a new webpage, maybe with payment options (or something of the sort,) but nothing is promised.
So if you want to help make a kickass game, you can email me at drbubonicus (at) gmail (dot) com.
