Weird One time error

zman1311zman1311 Posts: 1Member
I had a weird error today that has been driving me crazy all day and I don't know if anybody would be able to give me a reason why an error occurred. A program I wrote at work reads in a csv file and outputs it to a different file which is read into another program. Anyways today the program bombed because for some reason it read only part of the csv file wrong. So after it bombed I ran it in our development environment and everything worked fine. Would there be any reason why a file could get read wrong once and only once because I ran it over and over and I was never able to recreate the error.

Probably you should migrate to Subversion for source control from now on, it's really so excellent and easier to use.

I have been using it for more than one year now... Cannot like it more...

The files could have been being accessed by another program, process, or instance of that process and that might have done it. I haven't really heard of this sort of thing happening. If it happens again, and you still cannot figure it out, reply to this thread with the full text from the error (if its ASP, then whats on the page, if its VB then the "Details>>" stuff).

I have seen things work consistently in Debug and on several computers and then have it bomb for no known reason on another machine before. There is nothing you really can do if you cannot duplicate the error...
