General Questions in C#

Good Morning for all..
Thank you very much for this greatest School & i hope more
Finally i finished the C# School & in the way to finish VB.net
I have some questions & problems:

1-
switch (x)
{
case "Pakistan":
continent = "Asia";
Console.WriteLine("Pakistan is an Asian Country");
break;
}

what's the goal of this sentence "continent = "Asia";"?

2- what's meant by manged & unmanged code ?

3- when i use vb.net and c# or how i can determine to use each of them ?

4-
this.Cursor = Cursors.WaitCursor;
this.Cursor = Cursors.Default;

what's the goal of these lines ?,i can't understand them

5- what's the difference between string & String datatypes in C#?

6- Is all in C# or there's some issues didn't cover in the School ?

Thank You Again...

    :
    : what's the goal of this sentence "continent = "Asia";"?
    :

    "continent = "Asia";" is just to set a value to the variable of "continent", but I did not see the use of this variable in your code snippets.

    : 2- what's meant by manged & unmanged code ?

    .NET code is regarded as managed code while old Windows code like MFC code or Windows API code are regarded as unmanaged code.

    :
    : 3- when i use vb.net and c# or how i can determine to use each of them ?
    :

    In one project, you will need to stick to one language, either C# or VB.NET. I recommend C# though if you are starting to learn .NET. :)

    : 4-
    : this.Cursor = Cursors.WaitCursor;
    : this.Cursor = Cursors.Default;
    :
    : what's the goal of these lines ?,i can't understand them
    :

    These are just to set the current mouse Cursor to a certain status: either waiting status or default status.

    : 5- what's the difference between string & String datatypes in C#?
    :

    I think you can regard them as the same.

    : 6- Is all in C# or there's some issues didn't cover in the School ?

    For extra material, it's good to first get the C# School e-book, if you were viewing it on the web before now.
    http://www.programmersheaven.com/2/CSharpBook
    Because unlike the web version the book has a bonus chapter on C# 2.0.

    Additionally, there is plenty of detail on the new additions to C#.Net 3.0 (released with Visual Studio 2008) here:
    http://www.programmersheaven.com/2/CSharp3

    Thanks!

    Jonathan
