MDI was used in the old-style office programs (97 and earlier). You then have 1 window with smaller documents windows within it.
SDI is used in notepad/paint/etc. To open more than 1 document in a SDI application, you need to open a new instance of the application itself.

What does MDI View Architecture exactly means? If you want to differentiate or compare MDI application and MDI View Architecture?

    :
MDI stands for Multi Document Interface. View Architecture is the way a view (or GUI) is designed (in a similar way as architecture applies to buildings). Application is a program or a collection of programs running as one. Thus: Word 97 is a MDI application, which is design using a MDI View Architecture.

Do you mean the MDI View Architecture is the way by which Splitter view, RichTextView, FormView, ListVIew can be designed in MDI?

No. With the architecture I mean the way the child forms and the main form are handled. This is purely a theoretical way of looking at MDI applications, not a practical way. From an architectural point of view the classes (and their implementation), which make up the MDI, are not relevant. As part of the MDI architecture, the question is also how to handle memory, common operations (like copy/cut-paste), I/O functions, etc. The MDI architecture is basically the foundation on which designers can design their application. For the architecture the programming language, programming paradigms, and programming style are irrelevant.

Ok, is there difference between MDI Document Architecture and MDI View Architecture. The reason why I am asking this is that actually I want to describe MDI View Architecture and SDI application. For this I don't have direct information.
