    what type of connection are you using, and what database.
    also include some of the code which you have a problem.

    hi, i guess, i have some idea about your problem. first, what database are you using? this solution is for msacces only.

    in the change event of the textbox, your code will search the item which is written in the text box-probably unique identification number like ID No. and alike. The code is for ADO assuming that you already established the connection and initialized the recordset.

    rs.MoveFirst 'You should move first the record
    rs.Find "IDNo = '" & txt.Text & "'",0,adSearchForward,0

    if rs.EOF=True then
    Msgbox "No item in the current IDNO"
    else
    'Codes for viewing the records
    txtlastname.text = rs.fields("LastName")
    txtfirstname.text=rs.fields("FirstName") 'and so on
    endif

    'the searching of ADO in this code is from the top to the end
    'just means that every record has unique identification in order to prevent confusion and logical bugs
    'if the record pointer reached the End Of File and have not found any match display the message that it does not exist.

    first and foremost, i do gratitudely thank you for giving the informatin i need. uhm... can i ask another one? since the probem is already solved, i had been given a new task...

    this task is to create a program that can compute for the net pay of an employee. here are the factors concerning this program...:

    rate/hour
    hours worked
    overtime worked
    days
    absences
    gross pay
    deductions:
    sss/gsis n(x)%
    pag-ibig n(x)%
    tax n(x)%
    tin n(x)%
    wherein: n and x is equal to according to the condition: single, married or breadwinner
    net pay (every 15days)

    depending on days, as usual, an emloyee doesn't work equally to every days worked...

    every single day has the property value of the following:

    gross pay for a day = (hours worked * rate)+(overtime worked * rate)

    and every 15 days, we have:

    net pay = gross pay for a day - deductions 'wherein
    deductions = sss/gsis n(x)% + pag-ibig n(x)% + tax n(x)% + tin n(x)%

    i am using VB and accessing it to an exported access table...

    i already know how to vreate a payroll, but then, we have this so-called "Time-In, Time-Out",to determine the total hours worked by an employee for a certain day.

    how can i incorporate this "TITO" in this program?
    note: we have more than two employess to time in and time out accordingly.

    thank you in advance...
