where should i start

i want to learn a programming language and i've chosenn visual basic .net. my i'be also purchased "murachs beginning visual basic .net" book to help me. my question is in what order should i learn the things i need to learn. do i start with windows forms, .net, asp, ado, etc. any help would be appreciated.

    I'd say, Learn VB.NET through programming Windows programs (not that you have a choice, VB.NET is for Windows only).
    Just get a good beginners book and start working through it. As you go, you start to understand more and more and eventually you'll want to have a go at your own applications.
    After you've finished the book, you learn whatever you like and whatever you need for your own projects.
