Need suggestion for research site !

I know the basics of several languages, but I need help with deciding what platfom/tools/language(s) to use for a new site i'm working on. I'm trying to find out what would be the best route to take...php, flash, asp, aspx, js, mysql, access, etc?

The site will be an interactive educational type site that will track and record each user. It will have several "modules" that involve giving the user some initial educational info, pics, and maybe video; then asking several questions about what they just learned. If they get it wrong it gives an explanation. For research purposes, I need all the users info recorded...including how long they spend on each page and their answers on the quizzes.

js is immediately out the window, because that's way to constrictive. Most of such sites are created in php/access or mysql. Access and mysql alone are not enough, because they can only store data, but not create the user interface.

Thanks. I know that access and mysql are only databases, I was just wondering which combination would be most appropriate.

It really depends on what platform your running on the server. js and flash are client side technologies that you can only present to the user, however there is no assurance that they have those technologies running on their browser. If you anticipate a bunch of users ASPX or something similar is certainly the way to go. I like PHP since it offers so many image functions as well as many others, but keep it in mind that all those functionalities will cost you in overhead. Then add Pear and a chat room and your looking at trouble. ASP is great, but what OS do you want to run and what are you looking at spending?
