Removing browser 'text' from IE textbox's?

mydelphimydelphi Member Posts: 62
Hi everybody.

What would I do with out this site. Ok. Here's my problem..

I was searching around google, but I can't get a good search string to
match what I'm looking for. I google most of the time in my daily search.
I can't tell you how many search words I must have built up, since.

I want to remove the "text" inside the textbox's you see in IE
(internet explorer) and maybe other broswers, too, whenever you enter
text in them. For example, when I go to google, and I want to search
for movies, I might enter the following (in the Advanced page) text:

with All the words:[imdb ]
with the exact phrase:[disney ]
with at least one of the words:[princes snowwhite goofy ]
without the words:[linux mac ]

So, what I want to do, is write a delphi tool to automate this for me
anytime I need to, which would probably be every day or week. I
am not sure where these "text" words are being stored, but I am
figuring that they me be in the registry. If someone could correct
me on this, I would appreciate it. It might help others, too. But I'd
like to write a small tool that I can dbl-click on and remove them in
one clean sweap.

I hope its as easy as it looks, cause i'm confused where to go from here.

Thank you all for you constant help over the years. Its been really
appreciated!

I'm not sure I was clear with what exactly I need.

You see, when I use google search (Advanced Search) throughout the
day, I type a lot of words into all these boxes you see above. Now,
the next hour or day or whatever, when I go back onto google and
start searching again, when I begin to enter some text, sometimes
a drop-down box with a list of words that start with the first or so
of char's I type will show up. Its THESE words in all the textbox's
that I want to remove using the tool. I don't want them to show
up when I'm on again or someone else gets on my computer and
start using google, too.

This is not the precise solution you was looking for, but an alternative. In the Internet Options - Contents - Automatic Completion you can specify what IE needs to remember to complete for your in the future. Unchecking these boxes should solve your problem.

Hmmm...This is not the answer to your question on how to clear the history of textboxes but if you use this method, I think you will bypass the need to clear the textboxes altogether.

Try using the url of your search results. An example url is given below:

    http://www.google.com.np/search?as_q=delphi&hl=en&num=10&btnG=Google+Search&as_epq=exceptions&as_oq=&as_eq=&lr=&as_ft=i&as_filetype=&as_qdr=all&as_occt=any&as_dt=i&as_sitesearch=&as_rights=&safe=images.

So it doesn't matter now what options you use or which textboxes you use to perform your query as all the options will be bundled together into the url and you can just reuse the URL to perform the exact same search over and over again :)

As an offshoot of this method, you can break down the URL and locate where your search items are and insert other keywords into the url for other searches.

I hope I make sense to you......

If it works for you, please post a reply saying it worked cause it is nice to know that another problem was solved and another guy helped...... :)
