Builder6 and Vista

Denny_BDenny_B Member Posts: 70
Hi,
I got a new laptop with Vista Home Premium and installed my Builder6 Pro. Installation was no problem, no error messages - but when I launched it, the error message came up - could not rename a file ...CBuilder6Bincb.$$$ to ...Builder6Bincb.dro. I checked the directory and the file bcb.dro is there (not bcb,$$$). After closing the error message box the Builder runs OK, but can't create a new application, can only open and run an existing project (compiles OK).
Any help will be greatly appriciated.
Thanks.

Just a guess: it sounds like authorization problems. Vista will not allow installed programs to be modified. I could not find articles about it as well (all I did was make a CodePedia page about it http://www.codepedia.com/1/CppBuilderAndVista ).

Could you keep us informed on your efforts?
    Thanks,

    Thanks for your tip bilderbikel,
do you mean authorization of Builder or Vista? I have both Vista and Builder legal copy, so i do not know how to solve this. I have installed few applications on Vista (Adobe Photoshop 7, Dreamweaver MX) without a problem and I also installed the Builder on other machine with XP and it runs OK. I am thinking to change the OS to XP, but before I do this I will investigate more. I will keep you informed if I find a solution to Vista.
    Thanks,

P.S. I just found a solution on the official borland web site:
"Right click on the C++ Builder icon and from the menu select Run as administrator."
Vista does not allow to change any files in the Program files directory even if you are logged on as administrator.
