SAM's Teach Yourself XX in 21 days--your thoughts?

Good morning,

I've been working on some very entry level tasks here at work to get a grasp on C#, ASP.NET, SQL Server 2005, and Visual Studio 2005. I'm interested in buying books so I can do some learning at home. Does anyone have experience using the SAM's Teach yourself in 21 days books? Would you recommend them, or another beginner's book?

The only books I currently have are OOP Demystified (which focuses mainly on the logic of OOP) and Beginning SQL Server 2005 for Developers. I'd appreciate any input available.

Thanks,

-Jimmy

P.S.--sorry if post seems out of place. It started focusing only on C#, but I got carried away...

  • I found Sam's book ok... I'm currently preparing for C# certifications and I use these books :

MCAD MCSD Training Guide (70-315) Developing and Implementing Web Applications with Visual C#.NET and Visual Studio

MCAD MCSD Training Guide (70-316) Developing and Implementing Windows-Based Applications with Visual C# and Visual Studio.NET

Its written for version 1.1 but there is a lot of tutorials in there.

For the complete specs on C# and the changes in 2.0 visit :
    http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/vcsharp/aa336809.aspx
It's 3 .doc files with almost 1000 pages about every keywords or grammar rules in C#

For C#, Asp.net, Sql Server, each have a home pages and on each of them there is lots of trainning videos (introductions)! it's free for the beginner's level! Each page also have Virtual labs...

    Have fun learning!
