Canvas into ClientDataSet

how do I put graphic into a clientdataset?

Basically I have a canvas which I would like to save in a clientdataset, in order to retrieve it later.

I have a field called 'canvas', which is defined as a ftGraphic (or should I use ftBlob?).. is there a way to do it like this:

clientdataset1.fieldbyname('canvas').(asGraphic?.. or something) := "the Canvas"..

Using Delphi 7..
Thanks for any help.

    Nevermind... got it to work with a simple typecast..

    TBlobField(ClientDataSet1.FieldByName('Canvas')).Assign(Image1.Picture.Bitmap);
