Ad hoc Simulation Phase I

CSMA/ CA Simulation Problem

Assume that we have a grid of 1Km * 1Km with the following conditions:

Nodes are distributed randomly

Number of nodes = 100

Packet size = 1kB

Ack packet = 2b

Nodes are stationary

Maximum transmission Range = 250m

Propagation Speed = 2 * 108 m/s

Transmission delay is ignored

Simulation time = 2 hours

Calculate the max probability of sending.

Ad hoc Simulation Phase II



Assume that we have a grid of 1Km * 1Km with the following conditions:

Nodes are distributed randomly

Packet size = 1kB

Ack packet = 2b

Nodes are mobilizing; the speed is between 0 to 5 m/s

Nodes schedule a new event between 10 to 60 seconds

Maximum transmission Range = 250m

Propagation Speed = 2 * 108 m/s

Nodes are allowed to send to any node in the grid

Assume that each node will have a sufficient battery power till the end of the simulation time

Select an ad hoc routing protocol as discussed in the class (on-demand or cluster-based)

Use the CSMA/CA model that you built in Phase I

Do the performance evaluation for 50, 100, and 200 nodes

Simulation time 2 hours





Calculate the following:

Average waiting time per packet that is the time from the packet is scheduled to be sent till it reaches the destination

Average contention time per packet

Average Throughput
