How to save input before closing program

Hello
Im new to programming and i would like to know how to save input in my program without saving it to a text file.

    You will have to save it in some file format. It doesn't have to be a text file. A text file is a common way, but if all your data you are saving is in a single class, you can implement the serializable interface and then save it as a binary file, but it is still just a file.

    How else would you expect you can save data when the program is not running or the machine turned off?

    Note that technically a text file is a binary file, so when I said binary file above I meant a format that will not be very readable, if at all, by humans if the file is opened in notepad or whatever.
